Bio
Elizabeth "Bette" Marie (Codr) Tomes was born on November 10, 1936 to Rudolph and Marie (Vogeltanz) Codr in rural Ulysses, Nebraska. She attended Seward High School graduating in 1954. On April 14, 1956 Bette was united in marriage to William E. Tomes at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Seward, Nebraska. Bette was the Utica Postmaster for 24 years. She was a member of St. Patrick's Altar Society, Utica Legion Auxiliary Post #49, York Elks Lodge #1024 and York F.O.E. #3990. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling, playing cards, going to the casino and horse races and participating in the York Fun Club. Bette passed away on March 19, 2024 in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 87.
