Vincent Kosch was born in Irmsdorf Austria on 22 March 1863. On 27 September 1876 a 13 year old Vincent, his parents, brothers and sisters left Hamburg Germany on the Deutschland passenger ship "Frisia" to immigrate to the United States. They arrived in New York on 11 October 1876. The family settled in Butler County Nebraska (David City/Bellwood area). Vincent was married to Mary Anna Neisner in 1884. In 1885 Vincent and Mary Anna along with son George moved to Howard County Nebraska near the village of Boelus. They acquired a 280 acre farmstead (called Central Stock Farm) about 1 mile east and 1.5 miles of north of Boelus. Other children Vincent Jr., Anna, Josie, Edith and Virginia were born in the 1886 to 1903 timeframe. Son Vincent Jr. died in 1900 due to a hunting accident. A brother John Kosch also settled in the vicinity about 7 miles west of Vincent near Rockville in Sherman County. In 1903 Vincent and son George acquired a harness/leather shop in Boelus. Local newspaper articles show that Vincent was actively involved in civic affairs including developing civic community/activity center, participating in community band among others. In 1912 newspaper articles indicated Vincent planned to move to the State of Washington in the near future. In November 1912 he sold his farmstead and in February 1913 auctioned off his farm assets including livestock and machinery. Later that year, Vincent, Mary Anna and 4 daughters and son-in-law moved to the State of Washington. Son George Kosch remained in Nebraska. The 1920 census showed the family lived in Skyiou Skagit County Washington. On 8 December 1922, Vincent died in a Bellingham Washington Hospital of Bright's Kidney disease and was buried in Union Cemetery in Sedro-Woolley Washington.
