LAWTON CONSTITUTION DECEMBER 3, 1948 PAGE 1, COLUMN 2 RILEY D. SHAWN, DIES AT DUNCAN FLETCHER. December 3--(Special)--Riley D. Shawn, 86, of Fletcher, died at 1 p.m. Tuesday in a Duncan hospital following an extended illness. Services were schedules for 3 p.m. today in the Baptist church with Rev. James R. Roach, pastor, officiating. Born November 22, 1862 in Tennessee, Mr. Shawn came to Texas from Tennessee. He moved to Oklahoma in 1909 and has lived at Fletcher for the past 20 years. His wife died in 1939. Survivors include three sons, Homer Shawn, Fletcher; Oscar Shawn, Duncan; and William Shawn, O'Brien, Ore.; 22 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Burial in Fletcher cemetery will be under the direction of Wisener Funeral home. (Riley Doc Shawn was not 86 years old at the time of death. He was born in 1869, not 1862. He was the third child born to his parents who married in 1861. The family moved from Tennessee to Texas prior to the 1880 Census and then moved to Oklahoma before the 1910 Census.)
