BLOOMINGTON, Calif. - Harry Lawrence "Larry" Blahak, 68, lost his battle with cancer on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2015. He was born in Columbus on Dec. 22, 1946, to Harry L. and Frances (Schefcick) Blahak. After graduating from St. Bonaventure High School in 1965 he joined the U.S. Air Force, where he retired as chief master sergeant after 23 years of service. Larry then moved to California and joined the aerospace industry for 20 years; retiring in 2008. Larry never forgot his roots in Columbus. He was an avid Big Red football fan and enjoyed playing golf. Larry was very proud of his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sylvia; sons, Larry and Greg; daughter, Melinda; stepsons, Rod Olguin and Ken Colunga; stepdaughters, Roxanne Voss and Stacey Caudle; granddaughter-to-be, Emily Frances Blahak; sisters, DeEtte (Gary) Krumland and Cheryl (Chuck Sr.) Fleeman; and brothers, Robert and Steve. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Frances Blahak; and grandparents, John and Mary Schefcick and Margaret and Joseph Hentges. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, at Green Acres Memorial Park in Bloomington, California.
