Raymond Chromy, age 83, of Linwood, died Sunday, May 25, 2014, at the Golden Living Center in Schuyler. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, May 28, at Divine Mercy Parish-St. Augustine's Catholic Church in Schuyler with the Rev. Carl Zoucha officiating. Committal was in St. Mary's Cemetery in Linwood. Raymond Chromy was born January 4, 1931, in Saunders County, Nebraska to James and Agnes (Ustohal) Chromy. He attended country schools and Linwood High School. On August 4, 1953, Ray and Edith Svoboda were married at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Linwood. They lived and farmed southeast of Linwood. Ray also worked as a Security Guard at Cargill in Schuyler. Ray was a member of Divine Mercy Parish-St. Augustine's Catholic Church in Schuyler, the Linwood Volunteer Fire Department, had served on the Linwood School Board, Coop Board and the Bohemia Township Board. He loved hunting and fishing. Ray is survived by his wife, Edith and son Joe, of Linwood, a daughter, Irene Chromy of Omaha, one brother, Dr. James (Carolyn) Chromy of Raleigh, North Carolina, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons; infant Raymond E. and Alan Chromy.
