Turman, Charlie B. GILMER - Services for Mr. Charlie B. Turman, 96, of Gilmer, will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, February 25, 2009, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Raymond Tenpenney officiating. Burial will follow in Morris Cemetery in Upshur County. Mr. Turman died on February 22, 2009, in Longview. Mr. Turman was born October 25, 1912, in Black Rock, Arkansas, to Mack and Verna Turman. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Annie L. Monk Turman; daughter, Patsy K. Parsons; parents, four brothers and one sister. He was a member of Gladecreek Baptist Church and a retired carpenter, working in the Gladewater and Longview areas. Mr. Turman is survived by his wife of 24 years, Gladys Lindsey Turman of Gilmer; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles K. Turman and Marie of Shreveport, Louisiana, Billy M. Turman and Alice of Longview; three daughters and sons-in-law, Ida Merle Davis and Toby of Tyler, Norma Ruth Barrett and Benny of DeKalb, and Angie Rushing of Gladewater; half-sister, Fannie Cates of Georgetown; half-brothers, Benny and Johnny Turman of Dallas; one stepdaughter, Wanda Jones of Gladewater; one stepson, Rex Lindsey and wife, Cindy of Gladewater; also surviving are 19 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Chuck Davis, Toby Davis Jr., Alan Turman, Kevin Turman, Benji Barrett and Cole Rushing. Honorary pallbearers will be Lloyd Crabtree, Brandt Barrett, Bruce Monk, Sonny Monk. Memorial donations may be made to Beacon Hospice and Margaret's House, P.O. Box 5908 , Longview, Texas 75608, or the charity of your choice. Visitation will be today, February 24, 2009, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Published in the Longview News-Journal on 2/24/2009
