They chose the Golden Rod as their flower and gold and blue for their colors. They are planning a Halloween masquerade weiner roast for October. One visitor was present, Cecilia Kruml. Marjorie Goff was absent. After the meeting, songs were sung, games were played while a very delicious lunch was prepared by our leader, Mrs. Sam Jeffres. S. The Apprentice Plan is being followed in the Vocations Course of the Burwell High school, in that a Senior may choose a vocation in which he is interested, and is placed in a store or business with the idea of learning the trade. The members of the office practice class in Burwell High School were given an opportunity to take this examination. All twelve of these students received passing scores on the Typist Clerk I examination. Those ranking highest were: Eleanor Reineke, Carolie Anderson, and Beth Brenneman. Eleven of the local candidates also received passing grades as Stenographers. Those ranking highest in this examination were: Lois Jeffres, Carolie Anderson and Eleanor Reineke. . . . The Burwell Tribune, Burwell, Nebraska · Thursday, June 21, 1951 pg 4 JEFFRES - ERINGTON Wedding A quiet wedding was solemnized at the Christian Church, at 2:30 Saturday P.M., when Miss Lois Jeffres, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Jeffres, became the bride of Sonny Erington, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dermot Erington. Bro. Dale Scheffler officiated at the double ring ceremony. Their only attendants were Miss Galene Abernethy and Mr. Sterling Horner. The bride was dressed in a street length dress of all-over embroidered voile of light blue. She wore a shoulder corsage of white carnations and pink rose buds. The bridesmaid wore a street length dress of yellow embroidered organdy, with a corsage of white carnations and yellow rosebuds. The men were both dressed in dark business suits, with a white carnation boutonniere. Mr. and Mrs. Erington will be at home to their many friends at the Austin apartment house. The Ord Quiz, Ord, Nebraska · Thursday, June 21, 1951 pg 2 Informal Ceremony Weds Burwell Pair Lois Jeffres, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Jeffres of Burwell and Dermot Erington, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dermot Erington, Sr. of Burwell, were married by Rev. Dale Sheffler at a double ring ceremony in the Burwell Christian church on June 16. Galene Abernethy, cousin of the groom, was the maid of honor and Sterling Horner was best man. Organdy summer dresses were worn by the bride and maid of honor. Mis Jeffres' pale blue dress had a deep V neckline and small buttons down the front. Her flowers were white carnations and pink rose buds. Miss Abernethy's yellow dress was made with a high round collar, she wore white carnations and yellow rose buds. Both wore white accessories. Mrs. Erington has been employed by the Bank of Burwell and Mr. Erington is employed by the state highway department. They plan to make their home in Burwell. Eleven members answered roll call by telling some family tradition that is carried out each Christmas. We wish to welcome Lila Schneider and Lois Erington into our club. The lesson was given by Doris Cass, which was Making Bird Pins from Metalic. Each member made one of these. A delicious lunch was served by the hostess, Emily Becker, and cohostess, Doris Cass. Our next meeting will be held at Ila Sautter's, Dec. 18. This will be our Christmas party. In March 1963 Lois was living at 828 E. Everett, O'Neill, Nebraska.
