Bio
The first record that David L. Joy can be found is the mention of his Baptism in the church meeting minutes as an infant on August 27, 1838 at the New Salem Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Neoshu, Newton, Missouri. On June 10, 1853, his father George Joy mentions him in a letter. On April 4, 1854, his father again mentions him in a letter. On October 30, 1859, David married Mary Ann Epley in Burnett County, Texas. 1860 United States Census Records for Brown County, Texas lists David and Mary. 1880 United States Censud Records for Lincoln County, New Mexico lists David and Mary with their children - Carson, Richard and Alice. On January 19, 1888 - David frozen to death 25 miles north of Winslow, Arizona. His death is mentioned in three different newspapers over the next few months.
