Bio
Dennis R. Mazanec, 76, passed away Sunday, September 24, 2023 at his home in Hemingford. He was born March 26, 1947 in Chadron, NE to Arnold and Rachel (Klein) Mazanec. He was a lifetime Hemingford resident and a graduate of Hemingford High School. In 1967 he was united in marriage to Maureen O'Connor. To this union, 4 children, Leslie, Laurie, Lee and Larry were born. He later would marry Nancy Dubs on December 5, 1987. To this union, a daughter, Jessica was born. Dennis served in the Nebraska Army National Guard from March 4, 1965 until he was honorably discharged on March 3, 1971. Beginning in his youth he worked with his father in operating Mazanec Well Service and Windmills. Ill health forced his retirement after nearly 50 years in that field. Dennis enjoyed his time hunting, fishing, and watching football with his family. He was member of Pheasants Forever and the NRA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Alyssa M. Mazanec and his sister, Janice Bellew. Funeral services will be Monday, October 2, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at the Hemingford Congregational Church with Pastor Ted Dubs officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Hemingford Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, October 1 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Bates-Gould Funeral Home in Hemingford.
