Bio

Mamie was born near Valley Mills and lived in the area her whole life. Her education began in United School located near Searsville,and long consolidated with Valley Mills Independent School District. She was a graduate of San Marcos Southwestern State Teachers College in1913. Miss. Mamie taught school near Searsville,then Walling,Bend, Smith Bend, Winters and Clifton. Mamie was a member 28 years of Chapter 97 the O.E.S. Of Valley Mills. She served as Worthy Matron in1943-1944 with Rev. J.D. Barnes as Worthy Patron. Mamie passed away after a two months of care in a Meridan Hospital then moved her to a Clifton rest home. She was a member of Searsville Baptist Church where the service was held, Wednesday 20 TH at 2:00 P.M. Mamie never left home. After her father died she and her mother moved to town. When she and Henry married after a really long courtship he moved in with them. Mamie was a collector of everything,when she died she gave the house to a neighbor that had helped her in latter life. They moved the house across the high way from where it was.
