Bio
Thelma was born in Chico California June 16th 1927, and passed away September 12th 2023, at age 96. She lived her entire life in Chico. Thelma attended local schools and graduated from Chico High in 1945. After high school she went to work as a bookkeeper for the Diamond Match Company. Shortly thereafter she met Ivan Seiler, and they were married February 1st, 1947. They had three children, Ron, Rick, and Kathy. In 1969, she went to work at Notre Dame School as a secretary/bookkeeper until 1989 when she retired. Thelma and Ivan were members of St. John's Catholic Church and were Eucharistic Ministers for many years. She was also a member of The Altar Society and a member of Catholic Daughters for over 60 years, and a past regent. Thelma and Ivan were square dancers and enjoyed traveling in their RV throughout the US and Canada. In later years they enjoyed taking several cruises to Mexico, the Panama Canal, Hawaii, and Alaska. After Ivan's passing in 2012, Thelma continued to be active in St Johns, Catholic Daughters, and enjoyed family get togethers. She is predeceased by her parents Thomas and Josephine Powning, her husband Ivan, and son Rick. She is survived by her son Ron (Lydia), her daughter Kathy (Bob) her daughter- in-law Kitty, two grandchildren Meagan and Luke, and three great grandchildren McKenzie, Ivan, and Thomas.
