Richard Cochran Ash Bryan , born in Georgia was a farmer and occassional migrant worker (cotton picking). He moved his family to Waco and found his calling in cotton. He borrowed money to open his own cotton gin in Waco, TX. It was called Framer's Gin Company and was on Taylor Street. As the gin prospered, he also opened a farm store on the same property. He was a self-made man, good provider and very hard worker. He had many friends in Waco and was the subject of famed Gildersleeve photos several times. At the age of 53, he fell ill while working at the gin one day and walked across the street to his home on Taylor Street. Once inside, he collapsed. An ambulance was called, but in those days, hardly any first aid was provided. He died on arrival at the hospital of what was determined to be a heart attack.
