Obituary - November 20, 1991 Mrs. R.C.A (Elsie) Bryan, along-time Waco civil servant, died Saturday at a local nursing home. She was 91. Graveside services will be 4:00 pm today, November 20, 1991 at Rosemound Cemetery, Bert Mercer officiating. Mrs. Bryan was born November 1, 1900 in Birome, Texas. She lived in Waco the past 65 years and worked at James Connally Air Force Base during World War II. After the death of her husband, R.C.A. (Dick) Bryan, a well-known cotton gin owner, in 1945, Mrs. Bryan went to work at James Connally Air Force Base, where she was in civil service for more than 20 years. During that time she was a textile and leather worker. She later became a work leader in the field maintenance and fabric department. Her suggestions for improvement in her section earned her six awards. She also received bonuses for sustained superior performance and inventions. Mrs. Bryan was a 50-year member of the Walter Baldwin Chapter 929 Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Ploma Collins Study Club, and a longtime member of Crestview Church of Christ. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Alton (Mary) Bunnell and Mrs. Roy (Virginia) Cashion, both of Waco; a son, Ralph Bryan of Hurst, TX; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was indeed a wonderful person, dearly loved and now missed by many. The family will gather at 3217 Eldon Lane following the service. Memorials may be made to Waco Christian School, 816 N. New Road, Waco 76710, or the M.D. Anderson Leukemia Department, at 5015 Holcomb, Houston, TX. Wilkerson-Hatch Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
