Mary & Joseph Catholic Church ~ Valparaiso, Nebraska Margaret "Lucky" L. Masek, 90, of Valparaiso, NE, entered into eternal rest, holding her rosary and with her children by her side on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at her home in Valparaiso, NE. She was born October 5, 1932 near Dwight, NE to John and Frances (Dvorak) Walla. She attended Bethlehem Star School until the age of 13, when she was needed by her father to drive the grain trucks. On December 27, 1950, at the age of 18, Margaret was united in marriage to Lawrence H. Masek at Dwight Assumption Catholic Church in Dwight, NE. They were married for 62 years. Through the years, Margaret worked as a model for Coca-Cola, a sales clerk at Sears and this is where she was given the name "Lucky", a sales clerk at Havelock Furniture and most recently at Sam's Club. She would still be working today if her health would have allowed. She enjoyed music and dancing, especially polkas and Elvis. She loved listening to her three sons play in local bands. She also enjoyed baking kolaches for her family. Margaret taught her children the importance of family and to always be there for each other. She was a devoted catholic, who could be found praying the rosary over and over in times of distress. She always wanted to be there for her family, but she never wanted to be the center of attention. Margaret was a member of Sts. Mary & Joseph Catholic Church, PCCW, FCSLA, American Legion Post #371 Auxiliary, VFW Post #10491 Auxiliary, Red Hats Society and the Valparaiso Senior Center.
