Lawrence H. Masek, 85 years of Valparaiso, Nebraska, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lincoln. Lawrence was born July 15, 1927 in rural Valparaiso, Nebraska to Anton J. and Victoria (Tejral) Masek. He graduated from Valparaiso High School in 1944 and six years later he entered into the U.S. Army. He was a Korean War veteran and received a Purple Heart before being honorably discharged on September 7, 1952. Lawrence was a farmer near Agnew his entire life and worked as a television repair man for 15 years. He was united in marriage to Margaret Walla on December 27, 1950 at Dwight Assumption Catholic Church. Lawrence loved farming and was a proud veteran. He enjoyed polka music and visiting with his neighbors and friends at the gas station. Lawrence was a member of the Knights of Columbus, member of the Sts. Mary and Joseph Catholic Church, member of FSCLA, active member of the American Legion #371 and VFW #10491. He was liked by everyone and he was always quick to give a smile and a hug. Lawrence was very personable and was willing to help anyone. Lawrence is survived by wife of over 62 years, Margaret; children, Susann (Bernie) Siu of Diamond Bar, CA, Robin (Ronald) Regnier of Raymond, Mark (Candy) Masek of Louisville, Owen (Jenny) Masek of Valparaiso, Glen (Susan) Masek of Agnew; grandchildren, Shannan (Jeff) Kramer, Ryan (Jen) Regnier, Tyson (Amber) Regnier, Melissa Masek, Stephanie Siu, Brandan (Lindsey) Regnier, Rosey (Jeremy) Masek-Block, Cassandra Siu, Regina (Keith) Neemann, Courtney Masek, Tyler Masek, Christopher Masek, Jordan Masek, Kendra Masek; great-grandchildren, Jonathon Kramer, Rebecca Kramer, Addy Regnier, Makayla Kramer, Aubree Kramer, Grace Regnier, Alexus Regnier, Alexis Regnier, Hannah Regnier, Noah Regnier, Haley Regnier, Lucy Regnier, Jack Regnier, Landon Regnier, Kinsey Regnier. He was preceded in death by parents, Anton J. and Victoria Masek; brothers, William, Emil, and Anton Masek; sister, Henrietta Divine; grandson, Benjamin Masek; great-granddaughters, Agnes and Tucker Regnier. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, Feb. 18 at 10 a.m. at Sts. Mary and Joseph Catholic Church in Valparaiso with Monsignor Paul Witt officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday, Feb. 17 from 5 to 7 p.m. with 7 p.m. rosary all at the church. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery at Agnew with Military honors by American Legion Post 371 and VFW 10491.
