Verdigre Citizen Thursday December 13, 1923 Old Settler Answers Final Summons At the home of his son, near Walnut John Boelter, another one of our pioneer old settlers passed away Wednesday, Dec. 5th 1923, at the home of his son, August Boelter's near Walnut Nebr., at the age of 72 years, 6 months, 19 days after a lingering illness of two years. He was born in Termeroy, Germany and came to America in 1874 and settle near Walnut, Nebr., where he resided every since. his wife died in young womanhood and left four children which he gave the kind and loving care of both father and mother and whom are left to mourn as follows: August and Carl Boelter and MRs. Earl McElhose of Walnut, and Mrs. Jake Ef of Oelrichs, South Dakota. Mr. Boelter was numbered with our most highly respected old settlers coming her ein the early days and going through the many hardships and privations that the settlers of these early days passed through. He was a kind and loving husband and father and a good citizen and neighbor. Funeral services were held in the Walnut Luterhan Church conducted by Rev. Schlect of Orchard and interment made in the Grimton cemetery by the side of his wife. The Citizen joins friends in extending our heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved children and other relatives in their hours of breavement.
