Bio
On Tuesday, July 4th, 2023, Heaven gained two angels. Living a life of 70 years full of love and friendship, Susan and Rick Nutzman passed away together from injuries sustained in an automobile accident at Hamilton Missouri. Susan Marie (Hines) Nutzman was born on October 26th, 1952, in Fremont, Nebraska to Leonard and Beatrice Hines. She graduated from Fremont High School in 1971 and continued her education at Midland Lutheran College in Fremont where she received her teaching degree in 1976. She started teaching in Fremont, then moved to Falls City, Nebraska where she spent 39 years teaching Kindergarten, 5th and 6th grade, and retired in the spring of 2016. Susan was an amazing teacher and was honored with the Elk's Teacher of the Year Award in 2013. Susan was an exceptionally talented quilter and loved her Homemakers of the Hills and Just Us group gatherings. She was involved in many clubs and organizations in her community and was loved by many. Rick Nutzman and Susan were united in marriage on March 10, 1979. Together they shared three amazing children, Cozett, Devan, and Derrick. They were also blessed with three adorable grandchildren, Quinne Alize, Lonnie Marie, and Declan William. Susan was a sister to Lenice Hines and shared her twin bond with Sally Hines. Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Beatrice Hines, her brother Lonnie Hines, her in-laws, Edwin and Jean Nutzman and sister-in-law Dania Nutzman. Susan was survived by her loving children: Cozett Knight and her husband Isaac, Devan Nutzman and his partner Andy Sayborivong, and Derrick Nutzman and his wife Bonnie, grandchildren: Quinne Alize, Lonnie Marie and Declan William. A Celebration of Life Service was held jointly with her husband Rick at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at Prichard Auditorium, 312 W. 17th Street in Falls City, Nebraska with Pastors Will Certain and Randy Seedorff officiating. Visitation was held from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at Prichard Auditorium in Falls City. Family greeted friends from 5-7 p.m. at the auditorium. Graveside Services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Williamsville Cemetery (aka Saint Peters Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery) in rural Falls City, Nebraska.
