Bio

Beatrice L. "Bea" Hines, 85 years, of Scribner, NE, formerly of Fremont, NE passed away Friday, March 25, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Center in Scribner, Nebraska. She was born May 23, 1925 at Murray, IA to Calvin and Bessie (Palmer) McMahan. She moved to Fremont from Lebanon, Kansas as a young girl. She graduated from Fremont High School in 1944. She then attended Midland College in Fremont, where she received a teaching certificate and taught school in rural Dodge County. She lived on a farm near North Bend, NE until moving to Fremont in 1955. Beatrice married Leonard Hines August 24, 1947 at Fremont. They were married over 53 years until his death on December 10, 2000. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Fremont. In the past she belonged to an extension club and a birthday club in which she enjoyed spending time with her many close friends. Bea enjoyed baking, gardening, sewing and spending time with her husband and family. She babysat for several years in her home until she began employment with Schwesers Department Store, where she worked from 1970 to 1994. Beatrice was also a bookkeeper for the family business; Hines' Refuse Service, for over 40 years. Survivors include: daughters – Lenice Hines of Fremont, NE, Sally Hines of West Plains, MO and Susan and husband Rick Nutzman of Falls City, NE; sister – Charlotte & husband, Elmer Branzovsky of Fremont, NE; and 3 grandchildren – Cozett, Devan and Derrick Nutzman. She is preceded in death by: parents; husband, Leonard; son – Lonnie, 3 sisters – Audrey Brester, Twila Lichtey and Patricia Hobson; and 1 brother – John McMahan. A graveside service will be held at 2 PM, on Wednesday, March 30th at Memorial Cemetery, Fremont, NE. The Rev. Scott Jensen will officiate. Visitation Tuesday 3 PM to 8 PM at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Memorials may be directed to the family.
