Daughter of Julia Jane Seaman-Burnett and Alfred Burnett. Wife of Thomas Jefferson Gilley. Elizabeth was born in Louisiana in 1856. In 1871 she married Thomas Jefferson Gilley. She was the mother of 12 children. Thomas and Elizabeth lived in LA until approx 1894, until relocating to Texas to the ElCampo area. There youngest son Charles was born in Texas in 1895. In 1900, the family was living in Wharton County Texas. Sometime after 1900 census and before 1910 census, Elizabeth passed away. It has been told through family recollections that Elizabeth died in childbirth with her 13th child in San Antonio, Texas. There is no proof that Elizabeth is buried in this cemetery, other than another researcher stating that she was buried here. That researcher was looking for Elizabeths daughter Ida Gilley Hightower's relatives. In that post, was stated, that Ida's mother Elizabeth was buried at the Lutheran cemetery in El Campo. I can find no record of her being buried here, or for that matter at the Ansgar Evangelical Lutheran Church and Cemetery. This memorial was made strictly in memory of my great grand mother. I hope in time to have actual evidence that she is buried here. Date of death is estimated as no death record can be found. New info: 2012 After visiting this cemetery, i've located where Elizabeths daughter Ida's, sister-in-law is buried, Ella Jewel Hightower. It is in this burial area that it is possible Elizabeth is buried. Ella had not been listed on FAG or in any other transcription pages on other various websites for Swedish Lutheran Cem. So it is highly possible that Elizabeth was buried in the Hightower plot. I've posted the photo i took of the area, the marker to the left is Ella Jewel Hightower Johnstone, the marker to the right is little Ella Johnstone. I feel the open space to the left of Ella Jewels marker is where Elizabeth may be buried. But, the search for definitive proof continues.
