Robert Andrew David Jr., 85, of Wichita Falls, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2023. The family will receive friends between 2 and 4 p.m. Sunday, May 28, 2023 at Owens & Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls. Robert was born August 10, 1937 in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Robert and Ann David. He attended school in Wichita Falls, graduating in 1955 from Old High. Robert married the love of his life, Barbara Brown, on February 22, 1958. In earlier years, Robert provided professional drywall services for Wichita Falls and the surrounding area since 1955. He graduated from the Wichita Falls Police Academy in May of 1962 and continued working in law enforcement for 30+ years. In 1982, Sergeant Robert David was one of two certified police motorcycle instructors in the State of Texas. He later became the instructor for the W.F. Police Academy in 1986 where he continued to work until he retired in 1997. His passion for flying helicopters also led him to work a short stent at the Cleburne Police Department as well as fly off-shore for Petroleum Helicopters. His biggest passion was music. Robert loved to play his bass guitar and sing at all the jamborees. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ann David; his daughter, Katherine Marie Hankins; three brothers, Tim, Justin, and Jon; and a sister, Juanelle. He is survived by his spouse of 65 years, Barbara Cecil David; his children, Terry Shelton and spouse Scott, Kenneth David and spouse Cindy, and Traci Stegall; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; his siblings, Julius, Larry, Phyllis, Loughrey, Michielle, and Elissa; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
