Bio

Catherine Price Bishop was married to JOHN W. BISHOP. His grave was purported to be in Corsicana Texas, but without a marker and with questionable documentation. A memorial was created stating that (# 39541783) I have since found his actual grave in Livingston, Polk County, Texas where the family had been living prior to 1910 and Catherine's subsequent move to Henderson County with her children. Though I find no indication of a divorce, it is apparent that they were at least living apart from one another. The 1910 Census shows her in Henderson County and listed as a "Widow". However, he is living as a boarder in another man's home in Livingston with a marital status of "single". This is definitely him, though I am at a loss concerning the marital discrepancy in the census. His correct Find-A-Grave ID is : # 19539373 Hello John, Catherine's husband does not appear to be the John Bishop who was born in Mississippi in 1856. The John Bishop from MS appears as a single man in every Polk County Census from 1860 through 1900. The 1900 Henderson Co., TX Census indicates that the father of Catherine's children was born in Texas. Also, there is a John Bishop who was born in Texas in about 1858/1859, who was living only 6 households away from the Price family at the time of the 1880 Navarro Co.,TX Census. 1880 Navarro Co., TX Census. ED132, page 7, June 11, 1880. 46/46: Cader Price------49---MS---GA---GA - farmer Mary A. The John Bishop who was born in Freestone County was evidently orphaned at a young age - he appears with the Simmons couple in the 1870 Navarro County Census. Could not locate any Bishops in the 1860 Freestone County Census. 1870 Navarro Co., TX Census. Beat 4, page 41. 308/308: Simmons, J. W.---48---NC - farmer E.
