St Paul Phonograph, Feb 9, 1900, p.5, Friday. Joseph Gruber died Wednesday at the insane asylum at Hastings, of which he has been an inmate since 1890. The deceased was 47 years old, came to this country from Bohemia in 1870, remained a number of years in the east and lived in this county about twelve years. The mental malady from which he suffered is ascribed to the results of a blow to the head accidentally received in his youth. He leaves three brothers, Frank and Andrew of this city and Will Gruber of Ord. the remains were brought here for interment, and funeral services were held at the Catholic Church Friday morning
