Dixie L. Mooney, 78, of Ottumwa, died at 6:24 a.m. January 9, 2023 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. The daughter of Robert and Wilma Ott O'Brien, she was born June 18, 1944 in Aurora, NE. Dixie married Larry Wilson and they later divorced. She married Paul Mooney in August of 1999. Growing up in Nebraska, Dixie lived in Batavia, Oskaloosa and Ottumwa and worked as a C.N.A. at various nursing homes. She enjoyed her time as a flea market vendor and attending auctions. Dixie was a Green Bay Packers fan. Surviving is her husband Paul; her daughter, Denise Wilson of Oskaloosa; step-children, Scott (Marthalee) Mooney and Robyn (Dan) Thompson; 6 grandchildren, Ethan, Mason, Jacqueline, Aaron, whom she helped raise, Ashley and Derric; many great-grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren, Kindra, Blake, Shane, Jordyn and Whitney; 2 step-great-grandchildren; a brother, William O'Brien and a sister, Christina Doyle. She was preceded in death by her son, Larry Wilson Jr. Visitation will be open at 10 a.m. Friday, January 13th at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday. Cremation will follow the visitation. Memorials may be made to Heartland Humane Society Published by Reece Funeral Home
