Carrie Mae Hughes was born to James and Margaret Stevens Hughes 1861 in Ohio. Shortly after her birth, the family then returned to Lodomillo Township, Clayton County, Iowa where she lived until her death. She married Edwin Hale in Jan., 1878. They had only been married about a month when she died. There is no record of her burial, but it is likely she is buried in a now unmarked grave in Noble Cemetery where her parents and other siblings are buried. Possibly in Lot #16 which was owned by E. Hale.
