Bio

Gene Bynum, 79, of Hubbard passed away Sunday, March 17, 2013 at a Waco hospital. A celebration of Gene's life will be held from 2-4 pm Friday, March 22 at Wade Funeral Chapel in Hubbard. Gene was born April 9, 1933 in Van, one of 12 children born to Joe and Annie (Warner) Bynum. He was raised in Van and graduated from Van High School. After a long career in sales, Gene retired at age 54 to become a full-time rancher. He and his wife, Minnie recently celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary on March 1. He was preceded in death by his parents and several siblings including brothers, Tommy Joe Bynum, Gail Bynum and Jerry Don Bynum. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Minnie Bynum of Hubbard; three children, Debra Bynum Shelby, Marty Gene Bynum and Lisa Bynum Roberts and husband, Richard, all of Hubbard ; two sisters, Nelda Bynum Sewell and husband, Jimmy of Grand Saline and Barbara Bynum Burns and husband, Wayland of Canton; a brother, Billy Bynum of Florida; five grandchildren, Roxanne Williams of Taylor, South Carolina, Brandi Shelby Taylor and husband, J.T. of Waco, Ronnie Gene Shelby of Hubbard, Caprice Bynum Wade and husband, Blake of Dallas and Eric Allen Roberts of Columbus, Mississippi; three great-grandchildren, Logan Matthew Williams and Carson Meyers Williams, both of Taylor, South Carolina and Ryan Blake Wade of Dallas and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends. The family requests that memorials and donations be made to American Heart Association, 10900-B Stonelake Blvd, Suite 320, Austin, Texas 78759. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Thomas Lundeen of Waco Cardiology and the nurses and staff at Providence ICU.
