Pat's Life & Legacy On Sunday, December 11, 2022 Patricia "Pat" Elaine Platt Fortenberry went home to Jesus at age 75. Pat was born in La Marque, TX on December 20, 1946 to Jim and Hazel Platt. She attended Abilene Christian University for a short time before returning home to marry her high school sweetheart, Kirby Fortenberry. Pat and Kirby were married on July 21, 1967. They moved to Houston. where Pat worked at MD Anderson. The two relocated to Washington DC. where Kirby was serving in the Army during the Vietnam War era. While In DC, Pat applied her knowledge and skills acquired at MD Anderson to work at a local doctor's office. The Fortenberry's returned to Houston two years later to start a family. They raised a daughter and son, Amy Elaine and Kevin Daniel. Pat and Kirby became active members at Sharpstown Church of Christ, currently known as Sugar Grove Church of Christ. The Fortenberry was very involved in their church and life groups. Pat worked at Sharpstown/ Sugar Grove Christian School for 24 years where she was lovingly known to the students and staff as *Mrs. Pat. She taught Pre-K for many years, worked in the office, and served on the school board, all of which are a testament to her love of education and servants heart Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Hazel Platt. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Kirby: son, Kevin Fortenberry; daughter, Amy Lippincott and her husband, Spencer; grandchildren, Cade and Brinley Lippincott; her sisters Linda Marsters and Marsha Montes: brother-in-law Charles Montes. and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Above all else, Pat loved her grandchildren. She was the best Gammv there ever will be. Gammv and G-dad took Cade and Brinley on annual trips, where they explored Disney, San Diego, Washington DC, Hawaii and Colorado, just to name a few. Gammy took her job very seriously as the Chief Fun Planner and made each trip super special. Gammy and Gdad attended every game sporting event, snow, school event, horse jumping or cutting show that they could, never missing a time to cheer on Cade and Brinley, and their friends. Pat and Kirby also enjoyed traveling all around the world with their lifelong friends from church, making countless, wonderful memories. Pat went to her eternal home, unexpectedly, after complications while in the hospital from pneumonia, just short of her 76th birthday. Pat will be missed deeply by friends and family and leaves a big hole in all of our hearts. If you feel inclined to make a donation to honor Pat, please consider Lippincott Loves 501(c)3 givebutter.com/patfortenberry which will continue to honor her legacy of education.
