Hazel Driskell Platt, age 87, passed away on February 18, 2016 in Crockett, Texas. Hazel was born December 28, 1928 in Crockett, to parents Harry Elton Driskell and Ruth Velma Sanders Driskell. She was a graduate of Lovelady High School, earned her undergraduate degree from University of Houston and her Masters from Texas A&M. Hazel was a member of the Grace Street Church of Christ, the Houston County Medical Center Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary and the Davy Crockett Quilt Guild. She was married to her high school sweetheart, James Hardy (Jim) Platt, Jr., for nearly 67 years. They moved to the Texas City – LaMarque area in 1946. Jim and Hazel moved to Crockett in 1993 to enjoy their retirement. Traveling to different countries and 49 states kept Jim and Hazel busy. They made memories in Europe, Asia, Greece, Australia, New Zealand and other Ports of Call. Their 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren also kept them busy and happy. Preceded in death by husband, James Hardy Platt, Jr.; parents, Harry Elton Driskell and Ruth Velma Sanders Driskell; and sister, Odessa Driskell Brown. Funeral services for Hazel Platt will be held Sunday, February 21, 2016 at 3:00 PM in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel. Interment to follow in the Lovelady Evergreen Cemetery.
