Bio

Madeline G. Hewitt, 70, 1107 11th St., died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 1995, at a Sioux City hospital after a long illness. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with the Rev. L. Duane Churchman, pastor of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be noon Friday until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Hewitt, the former Madeline G. Cromwell, was born March 20, 1925, in Sioux City and was a lifelong resident. She married Herbert "Mike" Hewitt May 23, 1942, in South Sioux City. He died Dec. 30, 1990, in Sioux City. Survivors include five sons, Walter, Roy, George, Danny and Louis Hewitt, all of Sioux City; four daughters, Bessie Coop, Judy Carmen, Viola Church and Wilma Mapes, all of Sioux City; a sister, Marjorie Harmon of Sioux City; 24 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Alvin Walter Hewitt and two sisters. Pallbearers will be Kori Hewitt, Shawn Mapes, Mike Nellist, Brian Church, Kevin Church and Jamie Carmen.
