Born in Fish Creek,Polk County,Georgia in 1912 to George Luke Garner and Carrie Stringer Garner. The family moved to Mississippi about 1926. Willard worked in the lumber industry at sawmills and operated a skidder. Used to say it was so cold in Georgia your spit would freeze before it hit the ground.
