Lela was born at home and delivered by Aunt Lela Randall Parks (Uncle Leroy's wife) and Sarah Ethel Valentine Hollingsworth wife of William Argus Hollingsworth (Emma's brother).Willie and Nancy lived with Uncle Leroy and Aunt Lela Parks for awhile after they married. Willie worked with Leroy in the carpentry trade and was a pretty good carpenter. He built the kitchen onto daughter, Lela's house on Archie Smith Road and built the bench and pie safe that was in her kitchen for over 50 years. An antique dealer offered her $180.00 for the safe in the 1980's and that's when she said her Dad made it for her and no amount of money could by it. Willie and Nancy lived on Tiawana Hill near Moselle, MS. Neal Beech(Nancy's brother) and Addie Folks Beech lived there also. Aunt Lela Randall Parks made little Lela a "Dolly Dimple" doll. The pattern was stamped on flour sacks, front and back. Grandpa John Parks gave Lela fifty cents once and she said that she kept it for a long time. He told her what a smart girl she was because she had washed clothes and hung them on the fence. He occasionally rode the train from Louisianna to visit them after he moved there. To travel to his place in Crowville, LA. the ferry had to be crossed at Vicksburg. Lela remembers Grandpa John Parks driveway being long and had great big trees along beside it. Willie ran through a baracade once going to LA. and broke the windshield out of his car. Lela was unable to attend the funeral of Grandpa John Parks because she had just had baby Phillip 6 weeks before. Lela was loved by everyone and had the most kind and generous heart.
