SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services honoring the life of Ottis Calhoun, 88, will be held 9:30 a.m., Monday, February 11, 2008, at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home. Officiating will be Brother Randall Johnson of Berean Baptist Temple. Interment will be in Forest Park West Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, February 10, 2008, at the funeral home. Ottis Calhoun was born December 8, 1919 in Craven, LA. to Joseph and Cordelia Calhoun. He passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior Thursday, February 7, 2008, in Shreveport, LA, after a lengthy illness. Ottis was retired from the USAF. While serving his country, he served in Germany, Japan and Alaska. He was also retired from the Civil Service and Kraft Foods. He was a member of Berean Baptist Temple. He loved to attend the D&M Auction in Waskom, TX, every Saturday night, where he was loved by everyone and will be truly missed. He enjoyed getting together with his family for supper of fried catfish at Jim's BBQ in Waskom, TX, before the auction. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Hazel; his parents; one sister; three brothers, including his twin, Ernest and one granddaughter. Left to cherish his memory are his five sons, Ronnie Calhoun, Marty Calhoun and wife, Pam, Kevin Calhoun and wife, Virginia, Dennis Calhoun and Wesley Calhoun and wife, Tonia; two daughters, Nancy Spillman and husband, Dwain and Becky Jutze; one brother, Richard "Buster" Calhoun and wife, Dorothy; seventeen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren and a host of loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, Pallbearers will be Ronnie Calhoun, Marty Calhoun, Kevin Calhoun, Dennis Calhoun, Wesley Calhoun, Danny Haley, Mike Jutze, Paul Morse, Mark Morse and Scott Morse.
