Bio

Bernard was born in Mesquite, Texas, November 5, 1931, to Agnes (Zgarba) and Joe M. Kozlovsky on what is now Samuell Farm. Growing up in a large farming family he was the 11th of 12 children. Rich in Czech culture and tradition he was raised in a home rooted in a strong Catholic faith that he devoutly upheld for his entire life. Bernard served at several Catholic parishes throughout his life and prior to the pandemic he attended St. Martin Catholic Church where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. For more than 75 years he was a member of KJT Catholic Union of Texas. After attending Mesquite schools Bernard served in the military as a member of the 8th Army, 44th Engineers in Korea until his honorable discharge in 1955. At a church bazaar he met the love of his life, Eva Tallas and they married in Kaufman, Texas on November 26, 1955. They lived in Mesquite before moving to Rockwall, Texas in 1968 where Bernard has lived ever since. Bernard worked at Kraft Foods for more than 35 years. Following retirement from Kraft in 1986 he traveled the United States as a salesperson for Dallas China at state conventions for porcelain art. He made friends wherever he went and his love for people was reflected in his jovial smile. With a twinkle in his eyes, he was quick to tell a joke or share a story. He served God by serving others. Always ready to lend a hand, his hard work ethic and tireless persistence benefited many. Bernard had a remarkable ability to solve mechanical issues and often came up with efficient strategies to get the job done. He enjoyed traveling, tending to his vast yard, and visiting. Bernard devoted himself to his family and friends, a living presence in their lives. He is survived by his daughter Eva Beth McGuire and husband Mike, his son Karl Kozlovsky and wife Brandi; granddaughter Kaitlyn Graham and husband Brett; grandsons Kole McGuire and Kurt McGuire; and his little sunshine, great-granddaughter Evelyn Graham. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Bernard was preceded in death by his wife Eva Tallas Kozlovsky and daughter Becky Kozlovsky as well as his brothers and sisters. Milijeme Te.
