Albertina Kozlovsky Grooms March 9, 1928 - October 11, 2018 Albertina Kozlovsky Grooms, 90, of Lynchburg, was born on March 9, 1928, to Joseph Michael and Agnes Zgarba Kozlovsky in Mesquite, TX. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 11, 2018. She grew up in a Czech home and community and spoke only the Czech language until she entered 1st grade. She loved her family of 11 siblings and was proud of her Czechoslovakian heritage. Albertina was the wife of the late evangelist, J.O. Grooms, who predeceased her on April 5, 2010. They were married for 63 years. J.O. & Albertina moved to Lynchburg, VA in February of 1970 to be a part of the thriving ministry of Jerry Falwell and Thomas Road Baptist Church. Albertina Grooms served as the first Dean of Women at Lynchburg Baptist College (Liberty University). She is survived by a brother, Bernard Kozlovsky of Rockwall, TX and her 5 children, Lynda Smith of Myrtle Beach, SC; Michael Grooms (Edith) of Roanoke, VA; Beverly Riggins (Ronnie) of Lewisberry, PA; Mark Grooms (Renee) of Lynchburg, VA; and Janet Baldis (Charles) of Zavadaka Nad Hronom, Slovakia; 15 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. Though Albertina grew up very religious, it wasn’t until she trusted in Jesus Christ and His saving grace alone, back in the early 1950’s, that she found a peace in her heart about her eternal destiny. She raised her five children to know and love God and set the example of God’s grace and love before them everyday of her life. She was indeed the Proverbs 31 woman and “her children arise up and call her blessed” (Prov. 31:28). The service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 15, at Rainbow Forest Baptist Church, 1338 Rainbow Forest Drive, Troutville, Virginia.
