Bio

Laverne Fleming Deblanc, a longtime resident of Metairie, passed away on January 2, 2021 at Liberty Community Living Center in Liberty, MS. Ms. Deblanc was born on January 23, 1926 in Amite County to Enoch and Clara Edwards Fleming. She graduated from Ford Consolidated School and went to Draughn Business College in Jackson, MS. She worked at the Pentagon until the end of WWII. When the war was over, she moved to New Orleans where she worked as a legal secretary. She is survived by two brothers, James Fleming, wife Jo Ann of Liberty, MS and Elton Fleming, wife Jeannie of Lady Lake, FL; two special nephews, Joel Fleming, wife Katie and children and Jonathan Fleming, wife Angel and daughters; a host of other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, St. Denis J. Deblanc Jr; step sons, St. Denis J. "Butch" Deblanc III and Robert Alan "Corky" Deblanc; brother, Edward Fleming; sisters, Mildred Fleming Aaron and Jane Fleming Hester. A graveside service will take place at 1pm, Monday, January 11, 2021 at Metairie Cemetery, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans. Published by The Times-Picayune from Jan. 11 to Jan. 13, 2021.
