Bio
Rebecca W. Griffee was born January 15, 1824, died August 22, 1909. She was therefore eighty-five years, seven months and seven days old. She was married to Edward Griffee in December 1844, and was the mother of eight children, three boys and five girls, six of whom are now living, two sons and four daughters. Was the grandmother of thirty-three grandchildren and thirty-eight great grandchildren. She is survived by one brother, William Powell age eighty-one years, and one sister, Mary McDonald age ninety-three years. Her husband preceded her to the good world by nine years. She was converted when quite young and united with the Methodist church and has lived a consistent christian life. She was unconscious for several days before her death and the end was peaceful and without a struggle and we have no doubt as to her future. She died as she had lived, a quiet christian. Her funeral was preached by Rev. A.J. Bennett in the presence of a large crowd of her neighbors and friends. We shall see her again. Meade County Messenger, August 25, 1909 page 4
