Bio

Dolores Ann Sbrusch was born in Beasley on September 16, 1939 to Charlie Sbrusch Jr. and Lillie Janecka Sbrusch. She died on August 6, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer. Dolores enjoyed life and was quick to smile. She was a woman of wit and commitment to her family and dedication to her community. She had an unwavering faith in God. Dolores was a friend who took time to listen to the problems of others and offer advice when asked. She was generous, thoughtful, and caring. Dolores was a lifetime resident of Beasley, a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, St. Anne's Altar Society, SPJST lodge #28, and served on the Beasley City Council. She retired from Lamar CISD after 31 years of service. She retired as a student nutrition coordinator. After retirement Dolores went back to enjoying her farm, gardening, genealogy, and baking. Her kitchen was a repository of love and welcomed friends and family who came for conversation, supplemented with homemade goodies such as cinnamon rolls, surprise hamburgers, dill pickles and sausage kolaches. Dolores is survived by her sister, Ardis Sbrusch Bacak of El Campo, great-niece, Brooke Bacak, and great-nephew, Brett Bacak of El Campo. She is also survived by her "adopted little brother", Dennis "Butch" Sbrusch his wife, Beverly, and their children; her extended family, Raymond Jr., Kathy Witek, their children and grandchildren, Larry Sr. and Donna Witek, and their children and grandson; and Ernest Natho and Nancy Witek Natho; also numerous cousins and friends. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Bernice Sbrusch Steinocher; dear friends, Raymond Sr. and Lillie Witek; and her dog, "Lulu", a rescued terrier. At Dolores' request any donations will be given to the Beasley Volunteer Fire Department and ambulance service in Beasley. They really helped her in her time of need. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 11, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Davis Greenlawn Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, August 10, 2022, from 4-8 P.M., with a rosary at 7:00 P.M.
