Kenneth "Kenny" Russell Cable, 68, of Porter, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. Kenny was born on August 20, 1953 in McAlester to Lowell and June (McAlpine) Cable. He was a graduate of Hartshorne High School where he was a standout football player, and received scholarship offers to play at Division 1 universities. He instead began a career in law enforcement, and proudly became an officer for the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. He was, thereafter, a program director of Kibois Community Action where he served on the advisory board for the homeless. He served as chairperson of the Department of Transportation's focus group on child restraints. Kenny was a restaurateur and a Ward 5 Councilman for the City of McAlester. Later in life, he enjoyed collecting art and traveling throughout the Ozarks. Kenny is survived by his children: Paul Caldwell and wife, Jennifer of Spring Hill, Tennessee, Melinda Caldwell Liles and husband, James of Memphis, Tennessee; his mother: June Cable of McAlester; brother: Buddy Cable and wife, Jeneice of McAlester; sister: Sandy Coleman and husband, Bryan of Jenks; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. Kenny is preceded in death by his father: Lowell Cable. Viewing will be Sunday from noon until 6:00 p.m. and Monday morning from 8:00 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. before leaving for the service. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 27, 2022 at Oak Hill Cemetery with Dr. Matt Judkins officiating.
