83, of McAlester, died Friday, July 20, 2007, in McAlester. Born Jan. 7, 1924, to Walter and Sophia (McFarland) Cable in Blanco. He graduated from McAlester High School and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He married June McAlpine on Aug. 15, 1946. He retired from the State of Oklahoma as a fuel inspector. He was a member of the Mineral Owners Association, the American Quarter Horse Association and also owned and operated a ranch. Survivors include his wife, June, of the home; two sons and wives; daughter and husband; seven grandchildren, some spouses; three great-grandchildren, and sister-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Sophia Cable, and sisters and brothers-in-law, Opal and Charlie Carter and Oral and Rudia Haliburton Sr. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Oak Hill Cemetery, McAlester, with Bryan Coleman officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home of McAlester. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the American Alzheimer's Association.
