Bio

Martin Luther Hoke, Jr. of El Campo passed away May 20, 2017 at the age of 82. He was born on May 10, 1935 in Bradshaw, Texas to the late Ethel Tindle and Martin Luther Hoke, Sr. He was a 1957 graduate of Texas A & M University. Following graduation, he served in the US Army as a commissioned officer. He went to work in agriculture management sales first with Olin Corporation, and then with Mobile Mining. After two weeks of retirement, he began a new career in insurance sales with Germania Insurance Company. He was a member of the National Guard, a longtime member of Rotary Club of El Campo where he received the Paul Harris Award in 1992. He also received the Generation of Excellence Award at North Texas State in 2015. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Maribel Vogel Hoke, of El Campo; daughter Elizabeth Rasmussen and husband Russell of El Campo; son Will Hoke and wife Ellen of Houston; grandson Tyler Rasmussen; sisters Josephine Lawyer, Clydene Shields, Effie Holderman and Ann Herstine. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Ona Shirley, Doris Bryant, Patty Crosby and brother Roy Nelson Hoke. Visitation will be Tuesday at Triska Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 4 pm to 7 pm. Memorial Service will be held 3 pm Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Chuck Kimball officiating. The interment with Military Honors will be held privately prior to the Memorial service. Memorial donations in memory of Martin L.
