Bio

She was born in Melissa, Texas, to Terrell Lee Mantooth and Nannie Annie (Minton) Mantooth. She moved to the Cabiness and Arpelar area as a child. She married Rufus Mark Crosswell on July 8, 1931 in Cabiness. They moved to Pittsburg County where they both farmed until 1941. In 1945, they opened Mark's Garage and Welding Shop where she was the bookkeeper and helped run the service station. After retirement, she continued to enjoy gardening, quilting, cooking and later in life she began oil painting. She was a member of the Canadian United Methodist Church. She passed away at her residence in Canadian at the age of 90. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, LaVerne Southard, of Canadian, Gaytha and Bob Ten Eyck, of Pierre, S.D., Loretta and Durwood Hendricks, of Broken Arrow, Sue Sagar, of Fort Collins, Colo.; son and daughter-in-law, Mitchell and Shelli Crosswell, of Altus. And, grandchildren, Mark Southard, Kay Krueger, David Hendricks, Kathryn Brenny, Amy Pearce, Grant Crosswell, Keith Southard, Lynn Beck, Kristin Bucholz, Dawn Sagar-McKeehan and James Crosswell. She was preceded in death by her parents, Terrell Lee and Nannie Annie Minton Mantooth; husband, Mark Crosswell on April 19, 1993; sisters, Grace Henson and Pearl Hartsfield; brothers, Lewis and Walter Mantooth; a son-in-law, Wayne Sagar; two nieces, Narvaughna Dale and Helen Johnson, and nephews, Roy and Bill Hartsfield and Quinton Mantooth. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Canadian United Methodist Church with the Rev. Matthew Judkins officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service. Pallbearers include Grant Crosswell, Robert Miller, Wade Miller, Josh Southard, Mark Southard, Keith Southard and Clay Pierce. Honorary pallbearers include Bob Reed, Bill Sandifer, Reece Crabtree, LeRoy Northcutt, Pete Underwood, Bradley Holland and Gene Hart.
