Bennie "Benzoe" Charles Novak, 78, of El Campo, passed away on May 18th, 2022. He was born on November 20th, 1943 in El Campo to Frank and Angelina Novak. Bennie is survived by his loving wife of almost 40 years, Barbara Novak, son Dwayne Novak and wife Christy, daughter Sommer Hruska and husband Zac, and son Blaise Novak. He has 5 grandchildren - Josh and Julia Novak, Cecilia and Hannalea Hruska and Camilla Novak. Bennie was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Herman Novak, Raymond Novak, Albert Novak, Frank "Frankie" Novak, and sisters Annie Piwetz and Vlasta Yackel. Bennie was born and raised in El Campo. He grew up on a farm, helping his family to grow crops and raise livestock. He was a hard worker starting at a young age. One of his first jobs was at Johnson's Food Store and then a few years later, he worked for Mikeska's. In the early 70s, he started working for the El Campo Aluminum plant. This company took him all over the U.S and the world, such as the Netherlands and Germany. After he retired, he worked at Cordell Cabinets and continued helping his brother, Frankie, at Novak's Meat Market. Bennie was a community servant. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus #2490 and was a retired volunteer fireman after more than 30 years of service. He volunteered his time in many kitchens for church picnics throughout the years. Bennie was a proud member of the Overheated Cookers winning many awards for their BBQ. He even made it to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo to represent Wharton County. He was a great husband, father, Popo and friend. He will be greatly missed. Visitation will be from 4-6 pm Sunday, May 22nd at Triska Funeral Home. A Rosary, led by the Knights of Columbus, will be recited at 9:30 a.m. on May 23rd at Triska Funeral followed by a Memorial Service at 10:00 a.m. Honorary pallbearers are Gene Bustamante, Billy Freeman, Steven Korenek, Joshua Novak, Al Otradovsky, Steven Socha and Trenton Socha. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Bennie may be made to the El Campo Volunteer Fire Department.
