1931 © Waterloo Gazette; Waterloo, Nebraska; Friday, January 2, 1931, page 1 JOHN MOHATT John Mohatt , pioneer resident of Waterloo, died at his home Monday of paralysis, after a short illness, his health had not been the best for several years. Mr. Mohatt was born in New York state, March 28, 1845, and was 85 years, 9 months and 1 day old at the time of his death. He was married to Miss Mary Nason in Council Bluffs in 1867, and they came to Waterloo in 1873, and had lived in this county continuously since. John has two sons, Fred and John J. Mohatt, both of Waterloo, and one daughter, Mrs. G. A. Hill of Omaha. In addition eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Mohatt past in May, 1928. For fifty-seven years Mr. Mohatt lived in Douglas county and during this long residence here made many friends over the county who learned with regret of his death. Funeral services will be held this (Friday) morning at St. Patrick's church in Elkhorn, with the Rev. Father Hugh Gately in charge. Pall-bearers will be Francis and Lawrence Mohatt, George, Edward and Robert Hill and Clyde Hayes. Interment will be in Mount Calvary cemetery, south of Elkhorn.
