JOHN MOHATT Mrs. Mary Ann Mohatt , a pioneer of Douglas county for fifty-five years, which fifty-two were in Waterloo, died at her home in Waterloo early Wednesday morning, May 30th, following a lingering illness. She was a woman of strong character, and made many friend during her long residence in the county. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic church at Elkhorn and took an active part in the work of the Altar society. Mrs. Mohatt was born in New York, September 11, 1849, and was 78 years, 8 months, and 19 days old at the time of her death. Before her marriage she was Mary Ann Nason, and was married to John Mohatt November 26, 1867. Besides her husband, John, she has three children: Fred of Waterloo, Mrs. George Hill of Omaha, and J. J. Mohatt of Waterloo, and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also, fours sisters: Mrs. Cassie Carrel of Iowa; Mrs. Elizabeth Tamisea and Miss Fannie Nason of Omaha, and Mrs. G. A. Binnix of Waterloo, and four brothers, William, John and Richard Nason of Omaha, and James Nason of Waterloo. Funeral services will be held this (Friday) morning at 10 o'clock at St. Patrick's church in Elkhorn, and the services will be in charge by the Rev. Father Hugh Gately, pastor. Pall-bearers will be grand-sons: Francis Mohatt, Lawrence Mohatt, George Hill, Jr., Edward Hill, John Parks and Clyde Hayes. Interment will be at Mount Calvary cemetery.
