Bio

Joseph K. Heaps 1954 - 2022 ❦ Early Life: Joseph was born July 31, 1954, in American Fork, Utah, to Elmer Dwayne and Shirley Ann Brown Heaps, the fourth of their five children. He was raised in Alpine, Utah, and loved tending to the farm animals they had the privilege of raising. He attended Alpine Elementary, American Fork Junior High, and American Fork High School, graduating in 1972. ❦ Life's Work | Service | Interests: He served a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the region of Alaska–British Columbia, Canada, from 1973 to 1975. In June of 1977, he married the love of his life, Boni Bell, in the Provo Utah Temple. They soon started a family and enjoyed serving on the Alpine City Volunteer Fire Department together along with his father in-law and brothers. They stayed in Alpine until 1989, then moved to Orem, Utah, where they finished raising their children. Later, Joseph and Boni moved to Springville, Utah, and enjoyed a period of empty nesting until the passing of his wife, after which, he settled him in Provo. He courageously fought a year-long battle with brain cancer. Joseph K. Heaps passed away in the morning hours of April 23, 2022, in Provo, Utah, while surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He was 67. ❦ Family Message: Our father, grandfather, brother and friend has returned to his beloved wife and our Heavenly Father. The family wishes to express their gratitude and appreciation to the Intermountain Cancer Center at Utah Valley Hospital and the incredible staff with Intermountain Homecare and Hospice, for the wonderful care and compassion they all showed to our father. ❦ Survived By: His children: Jami Heaps (Loren), Mandi (Josh) Young, AJ (Melissa) Heaps, Tanner Heaps (Robyn); grandchildren: M'Tali, Dallin, Dakoda, Logan and Easton Young; Taya, Jayden and Avery Heaps; Kaydee, Zack and Levi Heaps; great granddaughter, Evelynn Heaps; brothers: Tom Heaps and Mark (Laurie) Heaps; along with many extended family members, whom he loves dearly. ❦ Predeceased By: His wife, Boni Bell Heaps; father and mother, Elmer and Shirley Heaps; sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Jim Maland; brother and sister-in-law, Adin and Susan Heaps; and sister-in-law, Susan Heaps. ❦ Services: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ❦ Location: Sunset 10th Ward Chapel | Provo, Utah ❦ Obituary: © 2022 | Warenski Funeral Home ❦ Burial: Alpine City Cemetery | 29 Apr 2022 Bio compiled by: Annie Duckett Hundley
