STANLEY WHALEY OBITUARY Stanley Paul Whaley 1928 ~ 2018 Salt Lake City, UT-Stanley was born in Callaway, NE, July 31, 1928. He lived four score and ten years and enjoyed good health most of that time. He lived in assisted living for only the last six weeks of his life, otherwise in his own home doing his own cooking, cleaning, and washing. Work and discipline were his trademarks. He was the last of 13 children born to Fred Earl Whaley and Gertrude Nansel Whaley. And he is the last of that "greatest generation". He married Ruth Kleeb Whaley June 6, 1949. She passed away in September of 2012. From farming in NE, to owning and operating an A & W Root Beer business in Springville, Utah, they worked together as husband and wife and business partners. Their 3 children were also involved in the food enterprise! Stan was preceded in death by one son, Paul (Cynthia) Whaley. He is survived by their two children Bruce (Norma) Whaley, Brenda Stowe, eight grandchildren, Ben (Erin) Whaley, Katrina (Jess) Leonard, Abbie (Chad Tengler) Whaley, Andrew (Rhianna) Whaley, Bernard Whaley, Jennifer (Jerry Hofstad) Elliott, Julie (Charles Maxey) Stowe, Zachary (Whitney) Stowe and eleven great-grandchildren. Stan had an abiding faith in Jesus Christ as his Savior and sought to live that before his family, friends, and neighbors. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 27, 2018, 11:00 am at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 So. Highland Dr. Salt Lake City, Utah. Visitation will be one hour before and on Sunday, August 26, 2018, from 5-7 pm. See www.wasatchlawn.com. Published by The Salt Lake Tribune from Aug. 19 to Aug. 26, 2018.
