Source: Daily Ardmoreite, Ardmore, Oklahoma DURANT -- Services for Mary Lillian Cavins Hamilton, 94, were Friday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Herb Bridgewater officiating. Interment followed at Stephens Memorial Cemetery, Clayton. Born Sept. 4, 1905, at Orr to Henry Taylor and Harriet Smith Cavins, she died Nov. 24, 1999, at a local health care facility. She married Fremont Hamilton Nov. 12, 1924, at Wilson. He preceded her in death in 1983. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Catherine Bell in 1944; two brothers, Doyle and Gene and two sisters, Ada Mae Gray and Vivian Maroney. Mrs. Hamilton attended and graduated from Zaneis Schools. She graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 1955. She taught school at Wilson, Wapanucka, Rock Creek and Enterprise and later taught at Cortney Petersburg School, located south of Ringling. She retired in 1965. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and had lived in Bryan County since the mid-1980s. Survivors include one son, Austin Hamilton, Coleman; one daughter, Carol Sicks, Searcy, Ark.; one brother, Bill Cavins, Ardmore; two sisters, Melba Culbreath, Ardmore, and Isabelle Williamson, Ringling; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Bearers were Arnold Walker, Leroy Watson, Truman Heron, George Collier, Jim Spencer and W.D. Manahan.
