Bio

Robert was born in Love County, OK in the township of Orr, which no longer exists. It was just south of Wilson, Carter County. The oldest of nine children, he lived in Burneyville, Love County before moving to Ardmore. He was well known as the Area Rent Director, and the City Manager for Ardmore in the 1950s. He married Maurine Cornell in 1924 and had two sons, Robert and Jack. Maurine died in 1957. Robert remarried at age 60, in May 1964, to Ruth Elizabeth Davis (1908-2004), daughter of Walter J. Davis (1882-1964) and Ella Lorena Stevens (1881-1967). Ruth was born in Covington, OK and had been an Ardmore resident since 1920. Robert died four years later in 1968. Ruth lived to age 96 and she died in Punta Gorda, FL in 2004. Robert and Ruth were buried in Rose Hill Cemetery in Ardmore with a double marker. Bio written by Louis Cornell for public use.
