DAUGHTER AND HER MOTHER DIE WITHIN WEEK AT MONROE Mrs. Guy Jensen Succumbed to Pneumonia Saturday: Daughter Died Mar.12. Twice within a week death visited the home of Mr. and Mrs Guy Jensen, taking a daughter, Miss Maxine Asay , who died March 12, and her mother, Mrs. Lydia Asay Jensen, on March 17, both having died of pneumonia following influenza. Mrs. Jensen was born in Elsinore 44 years ago, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Foutin, Sr. She spent her early years there, marrying Perry Asay of Monroe 29 years ago. From this union there now survives a son, Dolph Asay, and a daughter, Miss Clela Asay, both of Salt Lake. She was left a widow in 1922, and about six years latter she married Guy Jensen of Glenwood. A daughter, Beatrice, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Jensen, and she, with the husband, and five stepchildren, Ruth, Ted, James, Ilean, and Arvilla Jensen, survives. Surviving also are Mrs. Jensen's father, Charles Foutin of Los Angeles; 5 brothers, Chas, Jr., and Vivian Foutin of Prove, Ray Foutin of Widtsoe, Vernal Foutin of Elsinore and DeLos Foutin of the Los Angeles police force: three sisters, Mrs. Sylvia Liston of Salt lake, Mrs. Esther Ross of California, and Mrs. Myrtle Marquardson of Elsinore. Mrs. Jensen made friends with everybody who came to know her. She was a homemaker and a good wife and mother. The community will miss her, together with her daughter Maxine, who had the same quiet, winning traits of her mother. The unusually sad passing of both will long be remembered by their many friends throughout the country. Funeral services for Mrs. Jensen were held Tuesday in the South Ward chapel. The services for Maxine were held Wednesday of last week. Source: The Richfield Reaper Newspaper 1934-03-22
