Agnes Marie Hrncir of Round Rock, Texas, passed away March 17, 2022, at the age of 97. Agnes was born on February 14, 1925, in Corn Hill, Texas. She had an early career as a nurse in Austin, College Station and Richmond, Texas, and served as a polio nurse in Colorado. While working at Poly Ryan Hospital in Richmond, she met her husband Richard and followed his Air Force career, living in the Washington D.C. area and Australia before they retired in Rosenberg, Texas. She moved to Round Rock after Richard's death, close to her parents, who she cared for as they aged. Agnes was a creative and talented artist. Agnes mastered all styles of needlework, but she excelled as a seamstress, with clients from the State Capitol and in Round Rock. She specialized in weddings, designing bridal gowns and bridesmaid dresses. Agnes also volunteered her sewing talent – making sanctuary decorations and baptismal bibs for her church and cancer caps for the local hospital. Family was precious to Agnes – she was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She was a wise and loving guide for her daughters and grandchildren and the rock on which they leaned and learned. Through the years Agnes ferried her kids and grandkids to swimming, piano and tennis lessons, sold their Girl Scout cookies, taught them how to sew, crochet and make kolaches, and demonstrated how to be self-sufficient. Agnes was an avid fan of the Texas Aggies and the Houston Astros, proud of her Czech heritage, and strong in her faith. Agnes is survived by her daughters Betty Will, Louise Hrncir, Cathy Reiley, and Cathy's husband Ron; her grandchildren Richard Will and his wife Christi, Jennifer Reiley and Dana Reiley; her siblings Theresa Pesek, Louise Havelka, Paul Valenta, Mary Jo Matysek and John Valenta; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, her parents Adolph and Louise Valenta, her sister Lillian Sykowski and her brother Adolph Valenta. A Rosary is scheduled for Thursday, March 31, 2022, at 12:30 p.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m. at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 3201 Sunrise Road, Round Rock, Texas. A graveside service will be held at Davis Greenlawn Cemetery in Rosenberg, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to a charity of your choice in her name.
