Graveside services for Jim Owens, 75, of Lubbock, TX, will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, March 16, 2022, in the Abernathy Cemetery with Randall Carr officiating. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Jim died Sunday, March 13, 2022 at his home in Lubbock. He was born on December 16, 1946 in Lubbock to Charles Ray and Ida Mozelle (Gabriel) Owens. He was raised in Abernathy, where he graduated from Abernathy High School in 1964. He married Sandy Hendrickson, January 9, 1986 in Lubbock and together, they shared 36 years of memories. He earned his Bachelors Degree in Chemistry from West Texas State University. He enjoyed golf, gambling, especially blackjack, and football. Jim loved his cats. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mozelle Owens and a daughter, Jiminey Owens in 1975. He is survived by his wife; Sandy Owens of Lubbock, a daughter, Cinnamon Nieman of Lubbock and 2 grandchildren, Chance Nieman and wife Stephanie and Jiminey Vankraayenburg and husband Victor. The family suggests memorials be sent to Hospice of Lubbock, P. O. Box 16800, Lubbock, TX 79408 or to St. Jude Children's Hospital
